Companies should look to prioritise their use of technology that could help them both become more efficient and save money, such as virtualization, according to an expert.
Al Zoldos, vice-president of sales for Staples Technology Solutions, has claimed that such a move is ideal for the data centre over the next 12 months or so, as virtualization can cut a physical footprint, consolidate hardware and cut energy bills.
He added in a column for the Data Center Journal that embracing server virtualization can then lead to the use of the technology in desktop environments.
"While traditional desktop environments can pose cost and management challenges, desktop virtualization is another way to help you realize energy, cost and complexity savings," he explained.
Jim Metzler and Steve Taylor of Network World recently claimed in a column for SF Gate that the use of desktop virtualization can help firms to cut the complexities related to their IT infrastructure.
