Virtual managed hosting software revenue in Europe is set to expand significantly this year, it has been claimed.
Research carried out by IT industry analyst Gartner indicates virtualisation software earnings in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) will increase by 55 per cent from 330 million (£298.5 million) in 2008 to 512 million in 2009.
The group went on to say that corporate take-up will drive the emerging EMEA hosted virtual desktop software market from revenue of around 12 million in 2008 to 56.2 million by 2009, which will mean overall growth of around 335.7 per cent.
Rene Millman, senior research analyst at the company, commented: "Echoing global drivers of virtualisation software, the EMEA market growth will be led by cost reduction, resource utilisation and management advantages."
Earlier this month, IT support services provider Verizon Business claimed virtual managed hosting can help companies improve the quality of their service while cutting costs.
