A leading SMB security services provider recently survey by a to understand how their clients deploy email archival technology to extract useful business intelligence from their email-histories, revealed the lack-lustre of optimisation of this useful technology in 200 businesses located in US and UK. According to the survey, one in six businesses in the UK, are unaware that the huge collateral content contained in their archived emails can be mined to extract business intelligence.
This lack of early adoption has resulted in more than 45% of businesses losing productivity, as “66% of UK respondents indicate that employee requests for assistance retrieving deleted emails limit the productivity of their IT staff.”
The survey states that email archiving technology and benefits were largely underutilised as “In UK 15% of respondents do not believe they are storing their email in the most cost-effective way, and 29%, as against 25% in the US, do not know if their current process is cost effective.”
Only 22% of the respondents in UK, according to the survey say that, “information contained within their archived email is “priceless” to the organisation, while 62% in UK and 75% in US, value their organisation’s archived email data worth more than $100,000.”
Reputed experts Opinion Matter conducted the survey, in the first week of November 2011, seeking opinion from US and UK-based IT decision makers belong to organisations employing five to 249 employees.
