Companies could make their IT infrastructure compatible with cloud services by using server virtualisation, an expert has claimed.
Saqib Jang, founder and principal of Margella Communications, stated that the technology can "efficiently" separate and allocate computer-based resources, as their needs transform over time.
In an article for Infostor.com, he added that there are other benefits to embracing virtualisation.
"A rapidly maturing set of virtualization management services also helps provide speed, flexibility, and enhanced availability," he explained on the website.
"The pressure to reduce storage operating costs and do more with less has also never been higher, especially in the face of accelerated data growth, even in a down economy."
Steve Visconti, presenter of Atrato, recently wrote in a column for Reuters that virtualisation allows firms to take a step towards improving the green credentials of their data centres.
Such technology makes for "more efficient server technology", he explained to the news provider.
