The Open Virtualization Alliance (OVA) continues to attract new members following recent announcements of support from the likes of Hewlett Packard (HP), IBM, Red Hat and Intel.

Yesterday (June 23rd), the OVA announced 65 new members had joined the organisation.

The dramatic increase in member numbers represents a ten-fold growth in membership since the alliance was established a month ago.

Founder members created the alliance to drive forward education and best practice in the virtualization sector - including the promotion of open source virtualization solutions.

Among the companies joining the alliance in the recent recruitment round include Dell, B1 Systems, Fujitsu Frontech and CloudSwitch.

The alliance claimed: "With industry support continuing to grow, the OVA is rapidly moving forward with its mission."

When the OVA was launched, in May of this year, Kia Behnia, chief technology officer at one of the founder member firms BMC Software, said open source virtualization solutions would promote interoperability and broaden the choices available to IT organisations.
