A number of leading cloud computing organisations have joined forces to create the Cloud Standards Customer Council (CSCC), which is geared towards boosting cloud computing adoption.

Some 45 companies have come together to create the new body, which will aim to standardise a framework for cloud computing interoperability.

Managed by the Object Management Group, the CSCC will investigate a huge array of cloud computing issues, including management, architecture design, hybrid infrastructure and cloud security.

The CSCC's remit will encompass both private and public cloud computing.

Vice-president of IBM's software standards arm, Angel Diaz, who is one of the key members of the newly-formed CSCC, said the council will focus on extracting the best possible benefits from the technology - a move which is likely to benefit end users hugely.

Diaz claimed that the CSCC would also incorporate an end user feedback mechanism into their consultations to ensure that any standards that are created have the widest possible benefits.

Recently, the IEEE claimed that interoperability would be at the core of any cloud computing standards it created.
