Cloud computing is not a high priority for managed hosting providers, it has been claimed.

Research carried out by NTT Europe indicates 35 per cent of chief information officers and chief financial officers at UK enterprises say they are either not planning to adopt cloud computing, while 32 per cent are unsure whether their company will do so during the next two years.

The study also found that for 46 per cent of respondents the concept of cloud computing remains unclear.

Marketing director for Europe at the group Rob Steggles commented: "Decision makers at large UK companies clearly see the benefits of investing in online delivery of software and services - however, many are unconvinced about taking the plunge with a cloud computing model in the next two years."

Earlier this week, IT services provider Carpathia Hosting commented that a blend of managed hosting and cloud computing services can enable companies to reduce costs while retaining the benefits of dedicated hosting, such as security and availability.
